Even more impressive is that we are going to explore what happens in case you lose the charging case. Lastly, we offer some tips that help you keep your Galaxy Buds safe and secure at all times.
Locating Galaxy Buds that are connected to your Device
When you lose Galaxy Buds which are still connected to your device, there are two ways to track and recover them. Namely, these entail using either the Galaxy Wearable or the SmartThings App.
Using the Galaxy Wearable app
- Start by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone
- Scroll down on the menu bar and click the ‘Find My Earbuds’ button
- Click the ‘Start’ button to start searching for the earbuds
- Your earbuds wherever they are will start beeping. The sound progresses with each second
- Once you hear your earbuds beeping, you can click the ‘Stop’ button.
*This method uses the infrared sensor (IR). If there are blocking objects between your phone and the earbuds, the method might not work effectively.
Using the SmartThings app
- Start by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone
- Scroll down on the menu bar and click the ‘Find My Earbuds’ button. Once you do, the SmartThings Find will open automatically and detect the last know location of the earbuds
- You are presented with two options either to ‘Ring’ or ‘Navigate’. If you opt to ring, your earbuds wherever they are will start to beep in a gradually increasing sound. If you opt to navigate, Google Maps will automatically open to direct you to the GPS location of the earbuds. If you suspect that the earbuds are nearby but you just can’t seem to find them, it’s best to opt for ring option. However, if you think you have misplaced your earbuds somewhere else away from where you are currently, it’s best to opt for the navigation option.
*Owing to the fact that the SmartThings app uses GPS, its findings are much more accurate for earbuds that may have been lost in remote or distant areas.
Locating Galaxy Buds that are not connected to any Device
When your earbuds battery runs out, they automatically disconnect from your device. This, therefore, means you won’t be able to use the above methods. Likewise, the above methods won’t work if the earbuds are inside the charging case or there is an infrared sensor blocking object. Even when your earbuds are not connected, you can still track them by following the steps outlined below.
- Start by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your device
- Scroll down on the menu bar and select the ‘Find My Earbuds’ option. Once you do, the SmartThings Find opens automatically and reveals the last known location of the earbuds
- You can proceed to tap the ‘Navigate’ button to open Google Maps and trace the last detected location of the earbuds
- Upon reaching the pinned location, you can click the ‘Search Nearby’ button to allow the app to start scanning for the earbuds. Once the app detects them, it will notify you.
*Note that the location you are given is the last recorded location. This, therefore, means it may not necessarily still be the same location your earbuds are at. For better results, however, when using this method, you should move around the pinned location such that the app detects them more accurately.
Locating Lost Galaxy Buds Charging Case
It’s easier to track and trace your lost earbuds because they are connected to your device using infrared sensors, Bluetooth and GPS. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case with the charging case. As such, when you lose the charging case, the only way to track and possibly trace the case is by retracing your steps. If this doesn’t work, you may purchase a replacement for a fee from Samsung. Note that when purchasing a replacement case, you have to bring the earbuds so that they can be matched and paired.
Tips to Keep your Earbuds Safe and Secure
- Open the SmartThings app on your mobile phone
- Go to Devices and proceed to Galaxy Buds and then Find Device
- Select the ‘Notify When Left Behind’ option
- Click the ‘Add Safe Place’ button and proceed to enter the name of your preferred location and mark it as the safe area. Note that the safe area is a place where you don’t receive notifications if you leave your earbuds.
*Note that the above steps enable your phone to notify you each time you accidentally leave your earbuds behind. You will hear a beep sound that notifies you that you have forgotten something hence allowing you to leave the earbuds by choice if you desire.
