Echo Buds Aren’t Holding a Charge
Echo buds by design are designed to hold battery power for several hours. This, therefore, allows you to multi-task whether at the home, at work or just out and about while listening to your favourite music. You can even use them to help you multi-task by requesting Alexa to perform specific tasks on your behalf.
Now, with all that great convenience brought about by the echo buds, imagine them running out of battery in a matter of a few minutes. This would be devastating, isn’t it? Well at times, this may happen. The good thing however is that you may troubleshoot the problem for yourself and possibly rectify it without bringing in the technical experts.
If you encounter problems with the echo buds failing to hold a charge, you can troubleshoot the problem and possibly fix it by employing the tips outlined below.
What to do if Echo Buds are not holding Charge
- Echo Buds May Not be Properly Fitted when Charging: One of the most common problems that make it impossible for echo buds to hold a charge is simply the fact that they wouldn’t have been properly charged. The technology used in designing the echo buds is so advanced that you need to do everything according to the specifications laid out by the developer. Failure to adhere to the stated requirements may result in the echo buds failing to charge properly. When placing the echo buds in the charging case, always ensure that their sensors line up with the charging points in the case. For 1st Gen echo buds, you are guaranteed that the charging process is going smoothly if the LED light is green. For 2nd Gen echo buds, you are guaranteed that the charging process is going smoothly if the LED lights for both echo buds are on.
- Echo Buds not Placed in the Right Positions for Charging: When it comes to placing the echo buds in the charging case, it’s not just a matter of placing the echo buds wherever you deem necessary. You should place the echo buds in their rightful positions. If you fail to do this, the echo buds won’t charge and if they charge, the charging process won’t go as smoothly as you may want. As such, once you unplug them and try to use them, they won’t last as long as you want.
- Echo Buds Charged While Too Hot: Echo buds are sensitive to extreme heat. As such, you should not expose them to direct sunlight or stay in close proximity to a heat-emitting device/tool when using them. Once they become too hot, they won’t perform efficiently and in the same vein, they won’t charge to the best of their ability. If you charge the echo buds while hot, they may show the LED light. However, that won’t mean that the charging process is going as smoothly as you want. Once you unplug them and start using them, you will realise that they wouldn’t have stored much power. As such, before you start charging the echo buds, always ensure that they are cool. Also, during the process, check to see if the temperature around them is cool and that, they aren’t exposed to direct sunlight.
- The Wingtips Should Not Prevent the Case from Closing Properly: Some echo buds do come with wing tips. However, when using echo buds that come with wing tips, always bear in mind that the tips may prevent the charging case from properly closing. If the charging case is not properly closed, then the charging process won’t go smoothly and as such, the battery won’t hold much power. There is thus a need to double-check to ensure that the charging case is properly closed when using echo buds with wing tips.
- Need for a Reset: Sometimes, all that you need for your echo buds to work perfectly including charging and holding power for long is to do a soft reset now and then. To do this, simply tuck out the echo buds from your ears, place them in the charging case for a few seconds and then take them out again. When you do this, any possible firmware updates that the developer may have released will be installed. If the problem you were encountering was a result of the latest firmware updates which weren’t installed, the soft reset will help you address and rectify that problem.
- Need to Change the Echo Buds: Sometimes, the problem may just be down to a hardware problem. If this is the case, the best route is to simply change the echo buds and purchase new ones. If you still are in the warranty window, then get in touch with the support agents to state your issue and get the necessary help. Remember if you do get new Echo Buds, you will need to pair them with a new device.
Round Up
When your echo buds aren’t holding a charge, then there are likely two challenges. First, it may be a case of a small problem that you can troubleshoot for yourself and fix by following the tips outlined above in this article. However, in some instances, it may be a hardware issue which needs you to change your echo buds or seek assistance from support agents.
