VIP Filter Doesn’t Work echo buds
What is the primary purpose of your iOS mobile phone? Well, many will say that it’s making and receiving phone calls. Some will even extend that to cover sending and receiving messages. Therefore, we can state that the primary purpose of a phone according to many people is communication.
There is certainly a whole lot of truth in saying that the primary purpose of a phone is communication. However, iOS doesn’t just define a phone as a communication device. Rather, it goes further to define it as a communication and entertainment device. It’s against this background that there are several tasks prioritised on the iOS device. When it comes to these tasks, each time a notification arrives, it immediately pops up on the menu bar. If the device volume is on, then a notification sound is also heard.
If you fail to receive notifications about operations (tasks) happening in the background be it messages sent to your device via various messaging apps or social media platforms, then it means the VIP filter isn’t working. It’s recommended to quickly rectify this so that you don’t miss out on important messages and other communication. To rectify the problem, check out the following challenges and employ the quick fixes provided.
Steps to get VIP Filter working for Echo Buds
- Phone Notifications Turned Off: You may accidentally turn off your phone notifications. In some cases, you can just give your child your phone so that s/he plays a game or two. Unfortunately, these little cuties at times can be too adventurous hence open pages and possibly adjusting settings they are not familiar with. To turn on the phone notifications, you need to open the Alexa App and check for phone notifications under device settings.
- Phone is On Do Not Disturb Mode: It’s common nowadays for folks to turn on the do not disturb mode. This often is done when one is in an area where the use of a mobile device is restricted. Unfortunately, it’s too common to forget to turn off the feature once you leave that place. If you aren’t receiving your important notifications, therefore, you may just need to pull down the menu bar and see if the Do Not Disturb mode is not turned on.
- Group Messaging Turned Off: Sometimes, some notifications only pop up if the group messaging feature is turned on. If it’s turned off, then you won’t be able to receive the notifications. You rectify this problem by simply turning on the group messaging settings on your device settings page.
- Alexa Denied Permission to Read Phone Notifications: When using echo buds, it is Alexa who is tasked with informing you about all the notifications you receive. Unfortunately, if permission is denied for Alexa to read phone notifications, then there is nothing she can do other than remain quiet even if you receive important notifications. To correct this problem, therefore, you will need to open your device settings and proceed to permit Alexa to read all your phone notifications.
- ‘Pause New Requests’ Feature Turned On: There are times when you receive too many notifications and you deem some of them unimportant. To save yourself from receiving these notifications, you end up enabling the ‘Pause New Requests’ feature. Unfortunately, at times, once you do this, even the important notifications will also be blocked from popping up. You, therefore, need to correct this by opening the Alexa App and turning off the feature.
- Alexa App is Down: The Alexa App does the important job of receiving all notifications and screening them such that you end up only receiving the most important ones. If the app is down, however, this won’t happen and you won’t receive any notifications. As such, you should check and see if the app is up and running. It’s recommended to always keep the Alexa App running in the recently opened tray.
- VIP Filter Settings Not Working Properly: Sometimes, the apps on your device including the built-in apps may simply falter and crash. If this happens, they won’t be able to properly handle all their specific tasks. In the case of the VIP Filter settings, failure to work properly means that notifications may be jammed up hence some important ones may end up not being sent. It’s therefore recommended to just close the VIP Filter settings tab for a few seconds to refresh it before you launch it again.
- Notifications Not Turned on for the Apps you Want: Under the VIP Filter settings, you need to specify the apps that you want to receive notifications. If you aren’t receiving notifications from one specific app, you may need to check if you authorised to receive notifications from it.
